Pictures I took during my trip through Gyergyószentmiklós/Gheorgheni, a Szekler town in Transylvania, Romania. These were taken on Kodak Gold ISO 200 film, with a Canon FT QL camera from 1966.
The Armenian Catholic Church in the city. The town saw a wave of Armenian settlement in the 1600s, particularly Armenians from Moldova, and many families in the town still worship here. While they now speak Hungarian, they are still aware of their Armenian ancestry.
Looking at one of the Orthodox Churches in the town.
The Armenian Church was busy that day. I was told that this was because the Hungarian consulate was offering government services there, which happens periodically due to most residents being dual citizens of Hungary.
Entrance to the Church.
House of Vákár Arthur, a famous Hungarian diplomat, journalist, and writer. Currently under renovation. His pen name was 'Erdélyi Magyar Péter'. He was of Armenian descent.
